Ireland Consumer Confidence - Q2 2012

Ireland’s consumer confidence stayed steady at 64 index points in Q2 2012 (with no change versus same period in 2011), according to the latest global consumer confidence findings from Nielsen, a leading global provider of information and insights into what consumers watch and buy.

The latest round of the survey, conducted between May 4 and May 21, 2012, saw overall global confidence decline 3 index points from previous quarter. Confidence declined in 26 out of 56 markets, increased in 23 and remained flat in seven, as global events including a serious Euro zone crisis and slowing growth rates in China and India, impacted financial markets and consumer sentiment. As renewed volatility or uncertainty entered global markets, consumers reacted by reining in spending and consumption intentions.
